We’ll be sharing insights and updates leading up to, during, and after harvest season. Thanks to our Manager of Technical Services @Zubair Shahzad for his insights.
After a season of nurturing and preparation the almond harvest has commenced in our orchards! This harvest officially commenced last weekend when the first trees in our orchards were shaken. It all starts when the almond hulls and kernels have reached the optimal level of moisture content. When nuts are ready they are easily removed from the tree by shaking the tree. Our Victorian orchards consist of four cultivars, Nonpareil is harvested first, followed by the polliniser cultivars: Price, Carmel and Monterey. Harvest is a big operation & requires many machine operators and other harvest staff who use harvest machines to collect the almonds off the orchard floor and deliver them safely to our stock pads
