More About Our Nuts

How long do bulk nuts last?

How long your bulk nuts last will depend largely on how you store them. For example, an unopened bag or shelled or in-shell nuts can last for about two years if kept in a fridge or freezer. An unopened bag in the freezer can still last about a year to a year and a half. This is a stark contrast to how long nuts last when stored at room temperature - three months.

Can I buy wholesale nuts within my budget?

Yes. Here at Olam, we offer our bulk nuts for wholesale at affordable prices without giving up an ounce of quality. Our nuts come in many varieties and quantities, so naturally they're accessible to a wide range of budgets. If you'd like any more information about our pricing, please don't hesitate to contact us.

How do you store nuts in bulks?

As we stated above, nuts last longer when refrigerated. If you plan on holding onto your shelled or unshelled nuts for more than a few days, you should refrigerate them for up to six months or keep them in a freezer for about a year. This is if you want the nuts kept in their best possible condition. Please note, we recommend against storing your nuts near high-odour foods, such as onions, seafood, and asparagus. This is because nuts sometimes absorb the smell of other foods around them, which can be quite unpleasant depending on the food.

Are nuts gluten-free?

Nuts are naturally gluten-free, though cross-contamination could possibly occur depending on the processing of the nuts and where they're being stored. Please contact us directly for more information.

Do dried nuts spoil?

Though some mistakingly think that dried nuts are impervious to spoiling, their natural oils can still become rancid once they're past their best before date (or if they're not stored properly). Nuts are very sensitive to heat and air, so storing them away from direct sunlight is a must. This is why we recommend refrigeration for storage, especially for those living in warmer climates.

Which nuts are tree nuts?

All nuts are classified as tree nuts except for peanuts. This is because peanuts are actually considered legumes like beans and lentils.
